Liquid penetrant testing is used to detect surface-breaking cracks, porosity, lack of fusion and fine discontinuities in any non-porous material (stainless steel, aluminium, copper alloys, titanium, ceramics). It is the method of choice for non-magnetic materials where magnetic particle testing cannot be applied.

Procedure

  1. Surface cleaning and preparation
  2. Penetrant application and dwell time
  3. Intermediate cleaning (solvent or water-washable system)
  4. Developer application and indication formation
  5. Evaluation (white light / UV-A) and reporting

We frequently apply PT on stainless steel piping, tank welds and aluminium structures in food, chemical and energy plants. Acceptance criteria follow EN ISO 23277 or the project specification.
