The performance of a paint system protecting a steel structure against corrosion depends directly on the applied dry film thickness. Paint specifications under EN ISO 12944 define the nominal thickness of each coat and of the total system; these values must be verified on site.
Scope
- Dry film thickness (DFT) measurement with magnetic (steel) and eddy current (aluminium/stainless) probes
- Wet film thickness (WFT) checks during application
- Statistical evaluation according to the EN ISO 19840 sampling plan
- Environmental condition measurement (surface temperature, humidity, dew point – EN ISO 8502-4)
- Adhesion testing (pull-off, EN ISO 4624 / cross-cut EN ISO 2409)
- Galvanised coating thickness checks (EN ISO 1461)
We carry out acceptance measurements as an independent third party between the applicator and the client, and report non-conformities with photographs.
