EN 10204 defines the types of inspection documents for metallic products. A 3.1 certificate is validated by the manufacturer's own authorised inspection representative; a 3.2 certificate is validated by both the manufacturer's representative and an independent inspection body authorised by the purchaser. 3.2 certificates are frequently required in pressure equipment (PED), bridge, offshore and railway projects.
