Eddy current testing is a non-contact surface inspection method for conductive materials that can be applied without removing coatings. It is particularly suitable for painted steel structures, rolling stock bodies and heat exchanger tubes.
Applications
- Crack detection on painted/coated welds without coating removal (EN ISO 17643)
- Wall thinning, pitting and crack detection in heat exchanger and boiler tubes
- Surface discontinuities in aluminium and stainless structures
- Material sorting and conductivity measurement
Results are evaluated with instruments calibrated on reference blocks and reported by location.
