The Pressure Equipment Directive (PED 2014/68/EU) covers pressure vessels, piping, safety accessories and pressure accessories with a maximum allowable pressure above 0.5 bar. Equipment is classified into categories I–IV according to fluid group, volume/nominal size and pressure, and the appropriate conformity assessment module (A, A2, B+D, B+F, G, H, H1…) is selected.
Scope
- Classification: Determining whether the equipment falls within PED and its category (Article 4 and Annex II tables)
- Design dossier: Review of strength calculations (EN 13445-3, EN 13480-3, AD 2000), material selection (Annex I 4.2, PMA), risk analysis
- Fabrication: Approval of WPQR/WPSs and welder certificates under PED Annex I 3.1.2, NDT personnel qualifications (Annex I 3.1.3), inspection
- Final assessment: Witnessing the pressure test (Annex I 3.2.2), final inspection, marking
- Technical file and EU Declaration of Conformity: Compilation of documentation, Notified Body certification
Who is it for?
Pressure vessel and tank manufacturers, heat exchanger and boiler manufacturers, piping contractors, process equipment manufacturers and companies importing/exporting these products.
